The Hunger Symposium
A project by Constanza Macras/Dorky Park
Digital content creators are actively changing the way we perceive ourselves, how we listen to stories, comment on life, enjoy a meal or learn how to dance. THE HUNGER SYMPOSIUM builds up an exchange between these new virtual practices and more traditional art forms, focusing on economies, audience reach, means and procedures of creation. It is a space for critical thought, playful experimentation and knowledge sharing. Addressing some of the problems raised by content production in social media platforms, it also brings to the forefront pertinent critical work emerging within them, that uses existing strategies and extends them outside hegemonic regimes of creativity, image production, humor and storytelling.
Showcasing content creators and artists from around the world, the symposium will take over different spaces of the Volksbühne during three days of workshops, shows, panel talks, conferences, concerts and a fashion show. It is also an ongoing virtual space for experimentation bridging digital content creation and IRL theater. Follow @the_hunger_symposium on social platforms.
