Grüner Salon

Since November 2025, Kombinat e.V. has been managing and operating the GRÜNER SALON – a transcultural safe space for people and art.

As a place where art becomes a platform for conversation. On and behind the stage, people and their stories come together, challenge each other and find common ground. Burning issues within and beyond diverse communities are discussed, and new communities and alliances are formed.

As a place where art becomes a statement. Where the vision of an anti-patriarchal, non-discriminatory and just society is evoked and materialised. Principles of individual freedom and self-empowerment are not negotiated here, they are lived.

As a place where art becomes magic. Where words, symbols, images and movements expand our consciousness, reflect realities and, at the same time, can change them.

The Green Salon programme combines three interdisciplinary, intersectional and international formats:

sound salon* combines global music, experimental and new music with tradition and parties, offering a wide range of musical styles: from the MikroHiejazz jam sessions curated by the Syrian musician Wesam Karema, to the Romanian DJ duo Smoothin’ Groovin’, to the Berlin Post Punk music series, where the music of the new Berlin generation finds a home.

moving salon is the performative pillar of the programme with staged readings, performances, dance and theatre plays. Here, for example, the Drama Panorama: Forum for Translation and Theatre brings international contemporary drama to the stage. Or the Salon Ma ما by Modjgan Hashemian presents Iranian artists from the fields of music, dance/performance, visual arts and film.

united salon offers a space for Berlin communities and a platform for encounters, exchange and transnational networking. Prominent guests such as Eva Illouz, Zeruya Shalev and Sasha Marianna Salzmann regularly discuss topics in the Jüdischer Salon im Grünen Salon. Roma youth from the PowerPeng! project organise meetings, workshops and exhibitions here. The Romani Filmmakers Network presented itself to the world for the first time. Various anniversaries, such as International Roma and Sinti Day or the Persian New Year and Spring Festival Nouruz, are celebrated together with the urban community.
