P14 – Attack on Poyritz / 進撃の自然

Von Akira Schroth

Groß Poyritz is located on a hill between the current and the old river arm. The old arm is supposed to fill with river water in the unlikely event of a flood. Groß Poyritz is connected to three main roads, there is a streetcar stop with an end-of-line loop, and a ferry boat to cross over to Klein Poyritz.

It is 3 August, 2022. The water level is higher than usual. It had been raining cats and dogs for days. Today, however, it is reasonably dry and the villagers are gathering on the town square in front of the icecream parlour for morning sports. The talk of the town is: The zoo in Prague is swamped!

1: Do you have any news?

2: I wish.

1: The water level is rising here, too.

2: Is it.

1: For real, and higher than we’ve thought.

2: No kidding?

1: Afraid so.

2: I dread to think…

1: Me too, a wee bit… But I feel confident that I will adapt to the new situation in no time, and I guess people in Poyritz will be able to cope with it, too. I’m star sign Aquarius, anyway, and you love to watch breakfast tv in the company of crocodiles. And some smart person once said: “Ne Eiskrem a day keeps the doctor away.”
