Laurel Halo presents Atlas with Leila Bordreuil & MFO
Laurel Halo is a composer, producer, musician and DJ. Her album Atlas, which she will present at the Volksbühne together with Leila Bordreuil and MFO, has been released on her newly founded label Awe.
Utilising electronic and acoustic instruments, Lauren Halo has created a blend of weightless, ambient jazz and orchestral collages and sketches with Atlas, modal harmonies that are both elusive and captivating. At the heart of Atlas are subtle piano recordings and electronic manipulations recorded by Laurel Halo in 2021 at the legendary Ina-GRM Studios in Paris and now overdubbed. Further contributions from guitars, violins and vibraphone as well as acoustic instruments from collaborators such as saxophonist Bendik Giske, violinist James Underwood, cellist Lucy Railton and singer Coby Sey create a catchy atmospheric mood and turn Atlas into something completely new, in which you keep discovering sonic details.
The Detroit-born musician currently lives in Los Angeles. Her musical output remains aesthetically recognisable even across diverse genres such as pop, ambient, leftfield club, experimental electronica and film music.
