The Initiative Urbane Praxis was founded in 2020 following a suggestion by Rat der Künste Berlin (Council of the Arts). The project connects a network of partners throughout Berlin to bring together actors in the urban society and urban policy actors in an attempt to create synergies and develop action strategies and policy proposals and promote a sustainable transformation of interdepartmental structures in urban development and community-oriented coexistence in the city.
The recently published paper 11 theses on the road towards a manifesto of urban practice (editorial team: Jochen Becker, Anna Schäffler, Simon Sheikh) adds to the many-voiced Urban Practice Glossary (now available online) and provides preliminary results of various workshop conferences hosted by the Initiative Urbane Praxis with the working title SITUATION BERLIN, which sought to link a huge variety of locations and actors in urban practice.
With: Markus Bader (raumlaborberlin, Vorstand Urbane Praxis e.V.), Jochen Becker (metroZones, station urbaner kulturen/nGbK Berlin), Jesko Fezer (Studio Experimentelles Design, HFBK Hamburg / Kooperative für Darstellungspolitik, Berlin), Giorgio De Finis (Museo delle Periferie Tor Bella Monaca, Rom), Andreas Hofer (IBA 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart), Gilly Karjevsky (Soft Agency / Floating University, Berlin), Antonella Perin (Self-Made Urbanism Rome, Goethe Institut Rom), Heidi Pretterhofer (Club Hybrid, Graz), Anna Schäffler (Urbane Praxis Stadtlabor CoCooN, Berlin), Simon Sheikh (Goldsmiths College, London)
This programme is organised by Urbane Praxis e.V. as part of Praxiswoche 2023 and supported by the Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung, Bauen und Wohnen.
