Three Days to Liberation
Artist Statment:
Parvaneh Forouhar and her husband Dariush were murdered in their home in Tehran in November 1998. Their murder was part of the Iranian regime’s effort to eliminate opposition figures and intellectuals inside and outside of Iran, which later became known as “chain murders”. Eternal Flame is a documentary about the life, work, and tragic murder of the late Parvaneh Forouhar (Eskandari), a leading campaigner for democracy and human rights in Iran. In this documentary, we will tell her story by interviewing her family (Parastou Forouhar, Fataneh Eskandari), friends, (Nasrin Sotoudeh, Abdolkarim Lahiji, etc.), and coworkers and researching her articles, poems, archives, and documents.
Parvaneh Forouhar was one of the most famous women who resisted violence and systematic oppression in the Islamic Republic. Today a greater number of Iranian women are bravely resisting the Islamic Republic’s oppressive rule in Iran, and the life and murder of Parvaneh Forouhar is an important part of the history of the movement that we are witnessing today.
