Psychic Liberation

Psychic Liberation (PL) is a label founded in 2013 that originally ran with Miguel Alvariño under the title Primitive Languages as a cassette and record store project in New York City. Since 2019, Nick Klein has been running it solo out of the EU under the title Psychic Liberation. On October 25th DJ Dogdays, Horoscope, Scant , Tzu Ni will perform at the monthly concert series of the same name in the Roter Salon – curated by Nick Klein. For this edition PL invites Synchron Magazine to share in the evening for their latest Issue #3 release.

Tzu Ni

Tzu Ni is an installation/sound artist based in Taiwan whose work primarily utilizes spatial and sonic installations in her practics; as to (de)construct the interconnected relationships between sound and space. She tries to seek a balance between institutional and non- institutional contexts. As each element is respectively constructed and embodied in a given space, maschine, or body as poetry, she explores the boundaries of what spatial can be, and how it can interact with the environment.

Tzu Ni recently completed her solo exhibition “Rekindling Imaginability Beneath the Surface. ” in Hung-Gah Museum, Taipei and “The Butterfly wind cut effects” in Incheon Art Platform, Korea. Tzu Ni also been in residence at the European Ceramic Center (EKWC) in The Netherlands. She is currently hosting a bimonthly radio show on Hong Kong Community Radio and is releasing a new album as a joint release between Berlin’s Psychic Liberation and Seoul’s Rope Editions.

Scant

Scant is the alias of experimental musician Matt Boettke based out of New York City. He is a founding member of Thousands of Dead Gods, a record label in Brooklyn which previously operated a cassette focused record store from 2017-2022. Through his work as Scant he has produced over 30 limited edition tapes and CDs for American underground labels such as Chondritic Sound and Monorail Trespassing, while self-releasing through the Dead Gods imprint. Apart from solo recordings he has contributed to extensive collaborations with Justin Lakes (Shredded Nerve/Dead Gods), Stefan Aune (New Forces), Rodger Stella, and Nick Klein amongst others. His second full-length album as Scant is due for release in the fall of 2024 on Psychic Liberation. As a curator, Boettke has been instrumental to the organization of several DIY experimental music festivals including Avant Fairfax and RVA Noise Fest in Virginia, and Summer Scum in New York.

Horoscope

Rene J. Nunez Cabrera (b. 10/08/84, Miami FL) records sounds and creates multimedia projects as Horoscope, Moist, and under his own name. Cabrera’s live performances are as much a raw, uncensored vehicle of personal catharsis as they are a ritualistic forecast of what the future may hold. With numerous cassette and vinyl releases on labels such as LIES Records, Ascetic House, ENXPL, and Wharf Cat, Nunez has toured with a wide range of artists as a fixture in North American and European contemporary noise and electronic music circles.

Synchron Magazine

Synchron Magazine is a non-profit publication based in Berlin for art, literature and music with a strong focus on representing young, emerging artists with unique forms of expressions. What started in 2020 as a light idea for a zine to connect people during the pandemic, flourished into a vivid publishing practice exploring debut photography books, exhibitions and small editions of experimental publications. Inspired by V.Vale and Re/Search, Synchron is dedicated to exploring current streams and subcultures and provides readers a glimpse into diversity.

Self-published and distributed via Dyer Press, the magazine and publishing house are run by Shima (*1992) employed at the Japan Studies Department at Freie Universität Berlin and Johannes Farfsing (1994*), artist and musician.
