She was one of the most popular film and theatre actresses of the post-war period. In over 50 films, Vera Tschechowa worked with acting legends such as Gert Fröbe, Vittorio de Sica, O. W. Fischer, Mario Adorf, Elisabeth Flickenschildt, Therese Giehse and Götz George. In 1959, after several spectacular encounters with Elvis Presley, who was doing his military service in Germany, she was even rumoured to have had an affair with the rock’n’roll star: An early fake story.
Now she has written her autobiography. In conversation with journalist Reinhard Mohr, she will tell of formative encounters in her life – and of a time when there were no „influencers“ but famous directors, actors and writers.
