Performance

This theatre piece traces the journey from the Spree to the Baltic Sea, throughout cities, to reveal stories of exploitation, resilience and ecological injustice. Using feminist aesthetics to develop multiple languages that go beyond words to encompass sound, rhythm, image and movement, this piece reveals how ecological denialism fuels polarization and extremism.  The proposed arrangement of the Aesthetic Space integrates the audience, there is no separation by a „fourth wall“. Following the performance, a Collective Forum is established,  an aesthetic space of interactivity between the stage and the audience.

In Berlin-Wedding, bold ideas, critical views on society from all angles and perspectives can be experienced. To respond to the urgent questions of specific communities, the Theatre Of The Oppressed uses Sound/Rhythm, Image/Movement and Word/Text to impart views on society that are too often silenced. Bárbara Santos, is the artistic director of Kuringa Theater and together with musician and sound artist Till Baumann they created Waterbodies, a performance that will be presented on the first night of the Common Tongue Festival. Kuringa amplifies important voices. The group has worked together with Wir Sind Hier! a theatre project for young Roma*, initiated by RomaTrial e.V. in 2021 and toured with the show in 2023.
