AKE DIKHEA?: Manusz – Dance-Theatre-Film-Fusion

Dance performance without language, followed by an audience talk in German, English and Romanes.

Choreographer and dancer David Kwiek tells the story of Manusz, directed by Joseph Franciosa. Manusz means “man” in Romanes. Manusz dances in a blacksmith’s workshop, where he finds peace and clear ideas. In his mind, scenes of his past repeat again and again: his attempts to fit into this society; images of the liberation of his people from the concentration camp; images of the coronation of a family member as king. Manusz wants to feel at home in Germany, but he does not succeed. Manusz leaves the shop with the sound of the German national anthem and finds a new music – that of his family, hip-hop and funk. But how is he supposed to integrate all of these things? Two, three many hats – two, three, many worlds.

In the dance-theatre-film fusion, a live dance performance will merge with the 25-minute film. This will be followed by an audience talk with choreographer and dancer David Kwiek and with producer and dramaturg Christina Liakopoyloy.
