Vergessene Arbeitskämpfe – Ein Punk-Abend
Punk has a place at the Volksbühne, and workers’ struggles have to return to the stage of the working wo*man’s theatre.
In recent years, many subculturally vital spots and places have vanished from the map of Berlin-Mitte. Our response to this is a concert cycle at Roter Salon to re-establish old and new traditions. We are a core group of ten Volksbühne workers who, encouraged and supported by many of our colleagues, have been organising punk concerts at Roter Salon every other month since 2019.
Our principle is to commemorate one significant labour conflict or struggle with every concert night. These – often global – struggles are either historical or contemporary. And many of them are too quickly forgotten. We want to rescue the histories, the courage and the anger of our fellow workers from oblivion.
Above all, and for starters, we want to tell these stories.
