Wohnen muss bezahlbar sein! Wie die KPÖ Wahlen gewinnt

Talk

Housing must be affordable!

Affordable housing is the key issue in Berlin. High rents and heating costs and the fear of losing one’s home are among the most pressing everyday concerns in the city.

The CDU and SPD have been governing the city for a year now and are pursuing policies that only increase the profits of corporations. Their record is disastrous: rent increases for 180,000 state-owned apartments, heating cost madness without help for those affected and the successful referendum to expropriate Deutsche Wohnen & Co is simply ignored.

We are opposing the black-red Senate with practicable concepts and determined resistance. At our event, we will discuss how the rental movement and Die Linke can join forces to go on the offensive for affordable rents, municipal new construction and the socialization of real estate companies.

Housing also plays a central role elsewhere. In recent elections, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) was very well received with its focus on affordable housing. The KPÖ is an authentic and credible voice for the interests of tenants. In Graz and Salzburg, the party is now responsible for housing in the city government following the elections. We discuss with Sarah Pansy (federal spokesperson of the KPÖ) the approach and concepts with which the party is fighting for affordable housing.

Come along and join the discussion:
How can we finally make housing affordable again?

With
Sarah Pansy (federal spokesperson of the KPÖ)
Maximilian Schirmer (Co-Chairman Die Linke Berlin)
Andrej Holm (Urban sociologist, HU Berlin)
Moderation: Niklas Schenker (spokesperson for Mieten und Wohnen, Linksfraktion Berlin)
