Toxische Pommes

Wunschlos unglücklich is the new solo programme by author and cabaret artist Toxische Pommes. She herself describes it as a comedic play written by someone who knows nothing about theater, for people who don’t care much for theater.

The plot: A committed Marxist and left-wing activist unexpectedly inherits an old apartment building flat and plunges into a deep crisis. Having fallen victim to her bourgeois fate, the class traitor has no choice but to question her previous convictions and search for a new meaning in life within her freshly inherited four walls.

Driven by her fascination with the ugly sides of life, Toxische Pommes parodies Austrian society—often exposing it right where it hurts. In addition to her satirical short videos, for which she received the Online Prize of the Austrian Cabaret Award in 2024, she also performs on various cabaret stages in the German-speaking world. 2024 also saw the publication of her debut novel Ein schönes Ausländerkind (A Beautiful Foreign Child) with Zsolnay. Following Ketchup, Mayo & Ajvar, Wunschlos unglücklich is her second solo programme.
