Stammtisch „Ali“ Höhler

From 1 May on, Sternschuppen invites you to the discursive regulars‘ table „Ali“ Höhler every first Wednesday of the month.

Background: During our research of the history of Berlin’s Scheunenviertel surrounding the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz we came across the life story of the communist and resistance fighter Albrecht „Ali“ Höhler, who lived there until he was murdered by the National Socialists in 1933.The assassin of Horst Wessel had a criminal record and was found to be unsuited as a model resistance fighter, so he sank into oblivion, while the Nazi criminal (martyr for some) Horst Wessel is still well-known, not least because of the Nazi anthem he wrote.

A “social sculpture counter-monument” is now in the planning, and the regulars‘ table is intended to become a cultural space for political participation in the project. It takes place at the glass cube next to the main theatre building to make the meetings more visible in and for the public.

All who are interested are invited and visitors are welcome to sit together at a big table to discuss and share ideas. Drinks are served in return for a voluntary donation. We’ve never charged admission and never will.
