In Romanilution, the Romplay Theatre Ensemble asks itself what it takes to be safe. Is it family, money, a house?
In an energetic production, the young performers talk about desires and fears in a Germany that is both home and a foreign country. It is about threats and the attempt to find security. In its second play, the ensemble tells of the need for a safe place and formulates its wishes and demands to politicians and mainstream society.
They developed the texts and scenes for Romanilution themselves and present their view of a sometimes hostile society, which they encounter with hope.
The Romplay Theatre Ensemble is a group of young Sinti and Roma who presented their first production as part of the KRASS Festival at the Monsun Theatre in Hamburg in April 2023. With Romanilution, they continue to tell their stories and open up a perspective that all too often remains invisible: Discrimination and marginalisation of Sinti and Roma in the midst of everyday life in Germany.
