The International Romani Day is a day of visibility, remembrance and resistance. Grüner Salon invites us to celebrate diversity and empowerment of the Romani people:

Against the backdrop of the ongoing debate about the Berlin Memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe murdered under National Socialism, the short film „Unterbrechung des Gedenkens“ (Interruption of Remembrance)* will highlight forms of contemporary disfranchisement, followed by a discussion of filmmaker Estera Stan (RomaniPhen e.V./ Das Kombinat e.V.) and Violeta Balog (Amaro Foro) about the meaning of responsibility and the present, among other topics.

The creative empowerment project with Romani and BIPOC youth, PowerPeng!, will showcase their own perspectives through artistic and performative expression. Political, critical and loud!

Mal Élevé will also become loud in the best sense: His songs – a mixture of reggae, dancehall, ska, rap and punk – are a call for fighting fascism, capitalism, and sexism, while encouraging global solidarity at the same time. Legendary: Resistenza (Bella Ciao)!

Rousing rhythms and pure emotion then open up the dance floor: Smoothin Groovin, alias TRU:L & Bogdan D., and on the microphone, the visionary Romani artist Niko G., will bring one of the most underrated party sounds of the Balkans into the spotlight.
