Europa kontrovers: Verantwortung für Frieden in Europa – wer trägt sie in Zeiten des Unfriedens?
Peace in Europe is fragile — and the question of who safeguards it, it is on the minds of many Berliners. At a time of global tensions, we will discuss what a just and sustainable peace policy might look like, who exerts influence, and how European decisions shape our daily lives in Berlin.
The districts’ European affairs officers, Europa-Union Berlin, and the European Academy Berlin invite you to the next edition of “Europa kontrovers”: a series that puts Berlin perspectives front and center.
The event will focus on three questions:
- Who decides on peace – and whose voice is heard?
- How can costs and responsibilities be distributed fairly?
- What does European peace policy mean in concrete terms for Berlin?
The following speakers will be on the panel:
- Dr Katrin Mohr – Political Secretary for Policy Issues and Social Policy. IG Metall Executive Board.
- Dr Timo Graf – Senior Research Fellow. Centre for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr.
- Eva Yakubovska – Board member. Vitsche e. V. – advocacy organisation aiming to make Ukraine visible and heard in Germany.
- Prof. Dr. Sven Chojnacki, FU Berlin (invited) – Spokesperson for the Centre for Interdisciplinary Peace and Conflict Research (INTERACT).
- Jürgen Hardt, Member of the Bundestag – Foreign Policy Spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group & member of the CDU/CSU Working Group on European Union Affairs.
Then it’s your turn: in a fishbowl format, all attendees can ask questions and join the discussion. From 8 pm, networking over drinks and snacks.
Free admission from 5 pm, but advance registration is required!
