We learn about Else’s eventful life from many perspectives here: from the deportation as a Sudeten German child to climbing the social ladder in West Germany (supposedly only due to her husband), to follow her through to emotional growth and female emancipation that led her to deciding to secretly get a cab driver’s licence. A proud and modern woman, she then drives the readers through Frankfurt’s nightlife from the 1960s through to the 1980s, to land in a beautifully crafted, touching scene on the Cote d’Azur, where she embarks on a last great journey together with her granddaughter.

In a show with readings, film clips and music, Katharina Zorn and Jasna Fritzi Bauer put the spotlight on a generation of women who have remained in the dark. A tribute to our grandmothers and all women on the globe. Join the authors on their journey through the b/w film aesthetics of the sixties, with original music and new songs – musically supported by a surprise guest!
