Darlina Sáenz
Traditional Bullerengue singer Darlina Sáenz shares the legacy of her mother Eloisa Garcés live on stage on a rare Europe tour.
Passed down through generations, Bullerengue is an artistic expression of Afrocolombian resistance and resilience from the Colombian Caribbean, brought to life through song, drums and dance. A tradition that led Eloisa Garcés, a Bullerengue maestra from the Urabá region of Colombia, to sing of and to her natural environment: about daily life, nature, hardship and joy, faith, and history. Since her mother’s passing, Darlina Sáenz has been using her own voice to transmit her mothers’ legacy, winning several awards at Bullerengue festivals. This 2026 she brings the flavour of the Urabá region to European stages for the first time. In Berlin, she will be accompanied by musicians and dance practitioners from the local Bullerengue scenes of Berlin, Hamburg, and London.
