Closing out opening night in the Grüner Salon, join us for this pop-up performance and Festiwalla-launch party whose spontaneous, sweet, and sweaty social dances animate working class herstories of bodies in protest and political dissent. Activating what dance scholars Celeste Delgado and the late José Esteban Muñoz call “Everynight Life”, our dance floor is one where social movements take irresistible shape through a morphing musical journey that dances the decades of movement struggle and liberation. From the Black-Jewish Jazz age to present-day social dances birthed from survival, we’ll let the rhythms remind us of the worlds we make possible in real time when we move together!
