AUSGELIEFERT – Demokratie braucht Antifaschismus

On February 11 every year, thousands of neo-Nazis from across Europe gather in Budapest to pay homage to Nazi collaborators and SS soldiers on the “Day of Honour”, supported by the Hungarian government. And every year, this revisionist event is fiercely opposed by anti-fascist activists facing arrest, repression and extradition. In February 2023, the situation escalated and activist were arrested in Budapest, but also in Germany and France, or put on European “Wanted-Lists”. Despite an injunction issued by the Federal Constitutional Court, Maja T. was extradited to Hungary by German authorities – to a country that systematically violates the principles of the rule of law under Orban’s autocratic government. In contrast, even Italy rejected an extradition in the case of Gabriele M.! Nine people were wanted throughout Europe, seven of the wanted persons turned themselves in on January 20 – even though they are still threatened with extradition to Hungary.

These incomprehensible incidents are addressed by parents and relatives of activists, who fight for the return of Maja T. (www.kanu.me), joined by over 80,000 supporters online: https://weact.campact.de/petitions/keine-auslieferungen-nach-ungarn-maja-muss-zuruckkommen

Guests are politicians Martin Schirdewan and Carola Rackete, as well as journalists and lawyers with whom we will discuss pressing questions such as: Why are German authorities and courts willing to undermine decisions of the Federal Constitutional Court? How are house searches and repressions against relatives of activists possible? And what can we do to prevent extraditions and stand up for constitutional procedures?
