Roter Salon hosts a Faitiche label night to mark the release of the new album by the musician Roméo Poirier. Alongside Poirier, special guest Andrew Pekler will be present. Both are pioneers of found sound collages – sounds stored on audio and data carriers – which are woven into referentially rich compositions together with set pieces of archived music. Poirier and Perkler stand for very different approaches to audio collages. While the latter creates tropical-fictional audio/video landscapes, his “phantom islands”, the former creates multi-layered psychedelic sample fragments. The event is an exploration in different performative strategies of collaging sounds. Perkler and Poirier will each independently perform a solo concert representing one possible approach live on stage.
