„Manche fliehen von und andere nach zu Hause. Und manche beides zugleich.“

Lazi sitzt im Zug nach Budapest und hat ein Ziel: Das Gewehr des Großvaters András, der während des Ungarnaufstands 1956 nach Argentinien fliehen wollte, aber in Eppingen landete. Im ungarischen Dorf erwarten Lazi unberechenbare Tanten, unzählige Schnäpse und die Großcousine Zsófi, die Lazi das Schießen beibringt. Nur Mónika, die Schwester der Mutter, versteht, was Lazis veränderter Körper zu bedeuten hat, nur sie ahnt den wahren Grund für Lazis Rückkehr: Rache üben, Gerechtigkeit finden. Auf der Suche nach dem Ursprung der Gewalt in der Familiengeschichte trennt Lazi eine Naht aus Scham und Schweigen auf. Hat schließlich das Gewehr des Großvaters und alle Fäden der Erzählung in der Hand. Und trifft eine Entscheidung. King Cobra erzählt zwischen Humor, Zärtlichkeit und Wut vom Widerstand gegen das Schweigen und davon, dass die Liebe kein Bluthund ist.

Zu politischen und gesellschaftlichen Themen publiziert Muri Darida regelmäßig u.a. auf ZEIT ONLINE, arte, taz und SZ. Mit einem Auszug aus King Cobra war Darida für den Wortmeldungen Förderpreis 2022 nominiert und gewann den Publikumspreis des Open Mike 2024.
