On a stroll through Vienna’s 9th district, the protagonist of Patrick Holzapfel’s debut novel goes astray as he begins to follow the meandering movements of a homeless person clad in ermine. Then he finds himself sitting on a park bench made of twenty wooden slats, and time seems to stop, as a different map of the city is gradually unfolding. „The longer you sit here, the more you’ll learn about this bench.
