Brainstorming Against Brainwashing is needed more than ever during these dramatic times.

The poet, painter, and poetry performer RAN has performed many times in the Roter Salon. He reflects, in a provocative and unique style, a wide spectrum of the human experience—ranging from drama to humour, from the metaphysical to the surreal. He also uncompromisingly portrays distortion, contradiction, and loneliness, as well as excess, illusion, and the euphoric side of a metropolis. His distinctive personality is intertwined with his singular art form, making him a rare example of unwavering commitment to his authentic self.

Zaher Alkaei is a Syrian-German musician and composer with a background in improvisation, classical music, and electronic sound. In his performance with RAN, he weaves together electric violin and synthesizer to create a dynamic interplay between music and poetry. His sound shifts between acoustic warmth and electronic textures, at times echoing the rhythm of the words, at times offering contrast. With an improvisatory approach, he shapes an evolving soundscape that gives space for the poetry to resonate while adding depth and atmosphere to the storytelling.
