Filmmaker and video artist Timo Schierhorn, responsible for Deichkind’s music videos among others, used infrared cameras to record the nocturnal life of animals on the wastelands and outskirts of Hamburg for his film The Other Day (2023, 30ms). Triggered by chance and movement, the camera captures herons, muskrats and wolves in their random nocturnal movements or in shock at the unexpected sight of the camera apparatus. Schierhorn’s film will be shown for the first time here in Berlin, accompanied by a talk by the journalist and biologist Cord Riechelmann on the des/organization of nocturnal animal life, particularly in cities.
