This year’s prize is awarded to the poet and musician Christian Rosenau for his lyrical poetry published in notable magazines, anthologies and periodicals since 2005. His own books of poems include Die Initialen der Vögel (2006), Café (2007), Winterfurchen (2009), im Zweifel nach Haus (2012) and Nadelstich und Schlangensprache (2018).
Rosenaus original lyrical style, the precise and sensitive use of language and his unerring sense of form make for poems that build a bridge between literature and music.
The laudatory speech will be held by Matthias Weichelt, editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Sinn und Form published by the Berlin Academy of the Arts.
Christian Rosenau was born in Weimar in 1980 and studied guitar with Monika Rost at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Weimar. He lives in Coburg and works as a writer, musician and teacher of music.
