With sly humor and a lucid eye, Olga Bach tells the story of three dissimilar friends who share a love for the theatre; of a seemingly simple job that threatens to fail spectacularly; and of the emancipatory power of art.

On the occasion of a museum opening, theater director Orhan and playwright Irina are asked to develop a performance that explores the multiple identities of Berlin’s post-reunification generation. Quick and easy money, they think, and ask their friend Maria to join them. As teenagers, the three of them met at the theater, roamed the streets of the rapidly changing city and realized their first performances together.

Now, writing the texts for the performance, Irina delves into their family histories and looks back at the early days of their friendship. And as her eccentric father begins to lose his memory, the project becomes increasingly complicated forcing her, Orhan and Maria to confront their own biographies, exposing some truths along the way that they would rather have kept private.
