On the occasion of the third anniversary of the racist terrorist attack in Hanau on 19 February 2020, we are opening this Kafana Lab for all those who feel the need to be together, who want to commemorate the victims of right-wing violence through common exchange, who want to strengthen each other and look towards united struggles – according to the motto „no more anti-fascism without us!“. Everyone is welcome who wants to live in a safe, non-violent and accepting society. We can talk or be silent, drink fresh Mokka coffee or slivovitz and listen to healing music.
Hosts: Naima Amazigh (freelance author and moderator) and Hamze Bytyçi (Artistic Director of the Grüner Salon)
Music:
Just Fa, violin
Romeo Natur, percussion
Yasin Kiran, clarinet
Inspired by the traditional coffee houses of Southeastern Europe, so-called „Kafanas“, which are considered the cradle of modern (civil) society in the Balkans, the experimental event series „Kafana Lab“ negotiates visions of a new society – and a strictly feminist and anti-racist future. The artistic input, accompanying music and freshly brewed Mokka coffee encourage an exchange critical towards structure and power.
Funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe – Spartenoffene Förderung. The moderation is in German, contributions in other languages are welcome.
