As one of the 40 recipients of the Day of Club Culture, the Iconic House of Saint Laurent presents an extravagant evening program in the Red Salon of the Volksbühne.
In honor of DJ and Ballroom Icon Vjuan Allure Saint Laurent, Give Me Life – The Legacy Continues, goes into the third edition of the event series since 2018. This year focuses on the genre of ballroom music and club spaces. Apart from various DJ sets by members of the Berlin Ballroom community, the highlight will be a performance by the musical artist Danna Lisboa from Brazil.
DANNA LISBOA has shaken conservative structures since 2003 by performing for and representing the LGBTQIA community in São Paulo and in other Brazilian cities. Singer, but also dancer, model and actress, Danna Lisboa releases in 2017 her first EP IDEAIS (produced by Nelson D). Within the 7 tracks, all written by Danna, the track „Quebradeira“ with the special participation of Gloria Groove, which reached over 1 million views. Asides her artistic career, in Ballroom she is known as Brazil Mother Danna Saint Laurent , representing an important figure for the local Community as a trailblazer and first black trans woman opening a kiki house in Brazilian territory. She has lastly gained the title of Legendary Mother in the Ballroom Kiki scene in Brazil.
The European Chapter the House of Saint Laurent started in 2012, formerly known as the House of Melody, the first German Ballroom House. Since 2019 the House has transformed and joined forces with the Iconic House of Saint Laurent, founded in New York in 1982.
Representing the European Chapter came to life through the Iconic Godfather Vjuan Allure Saint Laurent, who passed away in March 2021. Outside of Germany and the founding American Chapter, the House of Saint Laurent has active members in Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, France and Korea
