Singer/songwriter Josephinex draws inspiration from songbook standards as well as samplers and sequencers. Together with the band Godmother, which consists of a fluid team of four to six people, including Elias O. Graversen, T-Word and Madeleine Duke, they create songs from art rock, baroque pop, R&B and dance music elements. Godmother’s style is too anachronistic to be contemporary – yet too unruly to be retro. In short: Godmother do „oldies but newbies“. On 6 May, the band celebrates the release of their brand new EP Playing the Villain at Roter Salon, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.

In great detail and with a sense of dry humour, Berlin-based lo-fi trio Matching Outfits are telling stories of disintegrating friendships, the loss of people they love, and separations, oscillating between childhood and adulthood, summer and winter, Germany and rural Sweden. Singer and keyboarder Linnea Mårtensson is the soul of the international band. In team with Rachel Glassberg (drums/guitar) and Leah Corper (bass), they deliver a yearning indie pop set with playful DIY ethos.
