The release show for Lonely Boys’ Best of Doppel-LP on Heaven Records will be on 11 March 2023 at the Roter Salon, supported by the artist and musician Iku.

On the album, Lonely Boys have collected songs from the past decade since the band’s debut, alongside fresh solo material from both of Lonely Boys musicians. The experimental sound spectrum is wide – ranging from natural sounds to synthesized styles, from instrumental basics to industrial beats, and alienated voices and identities. The duo’s contemplative, often mythical yet forcefully intensive electronic pop is a rebellion against notions of womanhood that are too narrow or traditional. Their songwriting negotiates ideas and experiences of love and romance outside the mainstream. The vulnerability expressed in the lyrics undermines the lack of authenticity typically associated with pop music. Tendencies towards melancholy and doubt are carrying the seed of resistance also reflected in the subversive sculptural work by Sanna Helena Berger gracing the album’s cover.

Iku is a Berlin-based visual artist and musician. Her audio works are sets of associative samples layered with emotionally charged sounds to create a sensual network of hypnagogic piano arrangements, introspective pop lyrics and cut-up field recordings. Iku has released three EPs so far, having been represented by various platforms and labels such as Creamcake (Berlin), AQNB (London/LA) and Amen (Vienna).
