Archiv der Leerstellen: Leben und Widerstände der iranischen Diaspora in Berlin (1970-2000) Teil III
How do you remain politically active after having lost your ground? What happens when a revolution forces its activists into exile? How does political action change when it emerges from the experience of displacement, repression, and the trauma of defeat? In the years following 1979, the political landscape of the Iranian diaspora in Berlin shifted radically. While the initial wave of exiles consisted primarily of students, the new wave consisted of political activists, former prisoners, and dissidents who had been forced to flee. This session explores the Iranian political landscape in Berlin during the first decades following the revolution—examining both its emotional depth and its organizational structures.
From the founding of the Association of Iranian Refugees to self-organizing groups in the wake of the Mykonos assassinations, we examine how resistance, solidarity, and the quest for justice have developed in practice.
