AKE DIKHEA? Award Ceremony and Closing Party

In English

The film show of the 6th International Festival of Romani Film AKE DIKHEA? will be crowned with an official award ceremony on the 29th  October: A total of 12 films from Germany, Great Britain, Romania, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary are competing for the title of Best Film or Best Short Film of the Festival. The decision will be made and presented by a five-member international festival jury: Franciska Farkas (HU), Charles Newland (UK), Brigid O’Shea (Australia/Berlin), Simonida Selimović (Austria/Serbia), Alisi Telengut (Canada/Berlin).

The audience will also get an opportunity to vote for their favourite film after each screening – the Audience Award goes to the film with the best average rating!

This year, for the first time, the festival team will also present the Nina Gladitz Award, named after the courageous filmmaker and activist who recorded testimonies of Sinti survivors, former forced extras of Leni Riefenstahl, in her film „Time of Silence and Darkness“. The prize is awarded to storytellers (projects, initiatives or individuals) who have made a special contribution to making Roma perspectives visible and revealing the truth.

With lots of sparkling wine & OJ, a little glamour and a danceable DJ set, we will celebrate all the films and their makers – because with their art, they contribute above all to the much-needed diversity of voices and stories in the film world.

And if you missed the cinematic crème de la crème of the 6th International Festival of Romani Film, don’t be sad! Because on Sunday, 30th  October, the best films can be watched again at the BABYLON, diagonally opposite the Grüner Salon!

Moderation & Spoken Word: Timimie Gassko Maräk, Poet and spoken word artist
