Multidisciplinary artist $afia Bahmed-Schwartz navigates between painting, music and writing to talk about the emotions and sensations that we often keep private. Her music knows no bounds, spanning between techno, hyperpop, hyper-rap and trap, and radiates with poetic fever. In her visual work she delves into intimacy and utilises deep ocean blue in all-encompassing paintings, portraits and analogue photography. In both substance and in form, the notion of intersectionality is present, with bodies being multiple and intertwined, and far from artificially binary. Playing with stereotypical concepts of representation and storytelling, she puts women at the centre – neither muse nor passive, but active, militant and free. Presented by Bahar Kaygusuz.
