OPEN CALL FOR PERFORMERS
New Creation by Davi Pontes & Wallace Ferreira

Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in collaboration with Something Great is launching an open call for performers to join a new choreographic work by Brazilian artists Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira, to be created and premiered in Berlin in autumn 2026.
Based on the research conducted for the project Repertório, the choreographers Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira expand their duet practice to encounter, for the first time, other performers. Repertório is a project that challenges the concept of choreography by seeing it as a practice of self-defence. Since 2018, the artists have been investigating repetition, gestures, and violence through Black archives.
WHO CAN APPLY
– Artists 25 years old and above
– Artists based in Europe with roots in or connections to the Global South, and/or from racialised backgrounds
– Artists from any movement practice background, including but not limited to dancers (not necessarily contemporary), performers, acrobats, and other body-based practices
FEES
– Selected artists will receive a professional fee for rehearsals and performances
– Travel and accommodation costs are covered by the production if outside Berlin
– Exact fee details will be communicated to invited artists during the selection process
CALENDAR & AVAILABILITY (MANDATORY)
Applicants must be fully available for the following period:
– From 31 August 2026: start of rehearsals in Berlin (full-time availability required)
– 8 weeks of rehearsals (exact schedule to be confirmed)
– 29 October 2026: premiere
Applicants should be available during the following periods for performances. Please note that dates are subject to change: 2026: 29.10–04.11 // 13.11–15.11 // 09.12–12.12 // 2027: 15.01–17.01 // 01.02–04.02 // 03.03–06.03 // 29.03.-01.04. // 25.04–28.04 // 15.05–17.05
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection will take place in two stages:
1. Online pre-selection
Based on the application materials submitted.
2. In-person audition (by invitation)
– 15 artists will be invited
– 4-day audition, first week of March (exact dates to be confirmed)
Following the audition:
– 6 artists will be selected to join the project
APPLICATION MATERIALS

- One video of movement or performance work
- One short video introduction presenting yourself and explaining why you would like to join this project
- Name, age, city of residence and contact details (in the body of the email)
