Giulio Bursi

Giulio Bursi is a film curator and film-maker based in Berlin.

With a background in film theory, he obtained an international PhD in Film Studies from the University of Udine/Université Paris III in 2009.

In 2012 with Pia Bolognesi he co-founded Atelier Impopulaire, an independent artists’ collaborative project in the field of exhibition making, printed matters and time-based media production, curating major exhibitions and retrospectives for institutions such as Tate Modern, MoMA, Centre Pompidou, Austrian Film Museum, Venice Biennale, ZKM Karlsruhe, Triennale di Milano and Volksbühne Berlin, where he served as dramaturg between 2016 and 2020.

He worked for ten years as assistant of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet and taught as adjunct professor at the IULM University (Milan), IUAV University (Venice) and University of Udine.
