The Volksbühne’s programme for the months of August and September, with information on all premieres and events, is available for download here.

On 12 September, the 2019/2020 season is opening with the premiere of Eine Odyssee based on Homer, re-told by Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, the Volksbühne’s new director of drama, and Mikael Torfason. There’s already programming in August, however, with Homage, to celebrate the 100th birthday of choreographer Merce Cunningham as a cooperation with the Tanz im August Festival / HAU Hebbel am Ufer.

Also on the main stage: the Torstraßenfestival 2019, the Netzpolitik conference, a concert with Christophe Chassol, the grand Wiglaf-Droste Gala as well as the four days of BAM!, Berlin Festival for Contemporary Music Theatre.

The 3. Stock’s programme includes the premiere of PHANTOM MENACE, based on The Spectre of Alexander Wolf by Gaito Gasdanov, a production from the collective CIAO NOW in co-production with the Volksbühne Berlin, the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique.

The Roter and Grüner Salons are hosting the following guests, among others: Christoph Hein, Edgar Rai, Carlos Cipa, Antje Vollmer, Friederike Otto, Dan Bodan, Paul Maheke und Nkisi. On 13 September Aviva Silverman is opening the exhibition The Living Watch Over the Living ii in LVX, the Pavillon am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.
