On the Volksbühne’s mainstage, a new production of Frank Wedekind’s Lulu featuring Lilith Stangenberg will debut on 30 May – director: Stefan Pucher. On the 3. Stock stage, the Volksbühne is presenting the world premiere of Katja Brunner’s Die Hand ist ein einsamer Jäger (The Hand Is a Lonely Hunter) on 23 May, directed by Pınar Karabulut.

Two performances that have been honoured with invitations to this year’s Theatertreffen festival are appearing at the Volksbühne as guest performances this month: Erniedrigte und Beleidigte (The Insulted and Humiliated), directed by Sebastian Hartmann at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden; and Thorsten Lensing’s production of Unendlicher Spaß (Infinite Jest). The dance-theatre piece Megalopolis by Constanza Macras | DorkyPark is also one of this month’s guest performances.

From the repertory in May: Volksverräter!! (Traitor of the people!!), Haußmanns Staatssicherheitstheater (Haußmann’s State Security Theatre), Drei Milliarden Schwestern (Three Billion Sisters), Coming Society and Der Palast, as well as Moby Dick (final performances), Quartett and the P14 production Benvolio + Mercutio on the 3. Stock stage. Other performances on the main stage: concerts from Gemma Ray and Wenzel & Mensching, the concert performance They called her Nico, a lecture from Luiz Raffato on the topic of Brasilien? Der neue Faschismus (Brazil? The new fascism), a Passagen Gespräch conversation with Hélène Cixous, and a discussion entitled Rechte Räume. Ein architekturpolitischer Reisebericht (Right-wing Spaces. An architecture-political travelogue).
