Further new productions, transferrals and guest performances till the end of the season 2018/2019

The Volksbühne Berlin’s programme up to the end of January 2019 has already been released and now we’re proud to announce further new productions, transfers and guest performances still to come in the current season.

New productions on the main stage are being produced by Sasha Waltz & Guests (world premiere on 7 March), Constanza Macras | Dorky Park (world premiere early next year) and Stefan Pucher (premiere at the end of May), as well as Schorsch Kamerun with Das Bauhaus – ein rettendes Requiem, a cooperation between projekt bauhaus and the Volksbühne Berlin for the anniversary celebrations 100 Years of Bauhaus (world premiere at the end of June).

Written, directed and choreographed by Constanza Macras, the award-winning 2009 production Megalopolis (Constanza Macras | Dorky Park) is transferring to the Volksbühne.

The following have been invited as guest performances: Unendlicher Spaß based on Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, directed by Thorsten Lensing; Die Welt im Rücken (The World at Your Back) by Thomas Melle, directed by Jan Bosse, visiting from the Burgtheater Wien; Immer noch Sturm (Still Storm) by Peter Handke, directed by Dimiter Gotscheff, visiting from the Thalia Theater Hamburg; as well as The Edda, re-told by Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson and Mikael Torfason, directed by Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, visiting from the Schauspiel Hannover.

Three new productions will be shown on the 3. Stock studio stage: Moby Dick based on Herman Melville, directed by Anita Vulesica, a Volksbühne co-production with the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts (premiere on 8 January); Quartett by Heiner Müller, directed by Mizgin Bilmen (premiere on 24 April) and a new production directed by Pınar Karabulut (premiere at the end of May). In addition, P14, the Volksbühne’s youth theatre, will also present five new productions.

The music, literature and discourse programmes on the main stage, in the Roter and Grüner Salons, and in the Volksbühnen-Pavillon am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, will also continue.
