Concerts in the Volksbühne in November

Dear colleagues in the press,

The Volksbühne Berlin is presenting the following concerts in November:

Primitive Art, Wilted Woman
Thursday, 1 November, 22:00
Volksbühne Roter Salon
12 €

Italian duo Primitive Art, who released their Crab Suite EP on Warp's sub label Arcola earlier this year, perform live, followed by Wilted Woman (Alien Jams and She Rocks!).

Following stints in free jazz groups, rock bands and chamber ensembles, Lizzie Davis has been performing and releasing music solo as Wilted Woman since 2013. Her work has been described as having “sharp elbows”, existing between dancefloors and gutted basements. In recent years, she has released albums and EPs on multiple labels, including Primitive Languages, Alien Jams, She Rocks, and Plastic Bags. More Info

Erik Enocksson (Apan) & Martin Burström (Live Visuals)

Erik Enocksson is a Swedish composer currently based in Stockholm. Known for his work with directors Jesper Ganslandt and Fredrik Wenzel, Enocksson’s hauntingly beautiful film scores for movies such as Farväl Falkenberg, Man tänker sitt and Apan quickly gave him a cult following. Heinz Strunk
Das Teemännchen
Friday, 16 November, 20:00
Volksbühne main stage
20 / 16 €

Over the past few years Heinz Strunk has been a welcome guest in the Volksbühne, as a solo act or in an appearance with Studio Braun, with a flute and a sarcastic multimedia show, or as an author reading his texts in the style of a rock concert. His new collection of stories unites the gloom of Der goldene Handschuh – his popular novel about serial killer Fritz Honka – with the absurdity of the Studio Braun world. More Info

Lonely Boys, Flora Yin-Wong, Philip FM
Saturday, 17 November, 21:00
Volksbühne Roter Salon
12 €

Together, Daphne Ahlers and Rosa Rendl are artpop-duo Lonely Boys, connecting raw instruments with highly emotional pop voices. According to Resident Advisor: “sounds a bit like Mark Fell doing dancehall with catchy vocals over top”.

London-born, Chinese-Malaysian producer, writer and DJane Flora Yin-Wong works with field recordings, dissonance and influences from contemporary club culture. She released her mono no aware double LP on PAN last year, whilst her debut EP, City God, a tape release on New York’s PTP, was inspired by Daoist traditions, tutelary deities and the afterlife; she uses sounds from temples and traditional contexts.
