69 Positions and 7 Pleasures by Mette Ingvartsen at the Volksbühne Berlin

69 Positions (c) Virginie Mira

You’re cordially invited to Mette Ingvartsen’s performances 69 Positions and 7 Pleasures, both presented at the Volksbühne for the first time in May and June. In addition, on 29 June Ingvartsen’s performance to come (extended) will be shown again – with a Q&A with the artist following the performance in the Sternfoyer.

In her solo performance 69 Positions, Ingvartsen leads visitors through a space with performances, films, texts and images brought to life through movement and speech: excess, nudity, orgy eroticism, ritualistic pleasure, audience participation and political engagement, all intrinsic expressions of a sexual utopia that arose from the counterculture of the 60s. 69 positions functions as a guided tour through the archive of sexual performances. 10-12 May, 8:30 pm. Volksbühne Dritter Stock.

In 7 Pleasures, pleasure becomes a question of perception and the political: how can one invent new forms of gratification that diverge from the choreography of everyday life? How can this potential be used to get around the common cliches of nakedness and sexuality? 12 performers flow into each other in one long, sensual movement. The boundaries separating them disappear through their skin, bodies, moments of touch. 27 June, 8 pm. Volksbühne main stage.
