Augustin Maurs:
Being Out of Tune – Favourite Songs of my Neighbours, Abusers, and Despots
Grüner Salon

Being Out of Tune is a parodic recital based on songs that have been used, abused and coopted by ruling powers or performed live by political leaders.

Augustin Maurs understands these songs as found objects, set in a cabaret show where the act of singing has been problematized. Playing with musical and political dissonances, the evening deals with interconnections between popular, populist and totalitarian forces.

Together with Quentin Tolimieri (Piano and keyboards)
Dressed by Lucas Meyer-Leclère
Organized by Asya Yaghmurian

Premiered at the 33rd Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts 2019, Crack Up – Crack Down.

Augustin Maurs is a composer who combines conceptual, performative and collaborative practices, often bringing the musical experience outside the musical field. Recent projects have been presented at the Teatro Goldoni in Venice, the Ljubljana Biennial 2019, the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum Berlin, the Beishan Broadcast Wall in Taiwan, the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, the Busan Biennale 2018 or the New York Goethe Institute. He lives in Berlin.
