Sophie Hutchings
Roter Salon

The piano was a place of refuge for young Australian pianist Sophie Hutchings. She hid herself away in the family's piano room and tried to explore the instrument as quietly and unobtrusively as possible. Her nearly meditative style developed out of this experience. In 2010 she released her debut, and since then she's also performed live. But it's only recently that she's garnered attention from a broader public. The press is now comparing this Sydney-raised artist to renowned composer Michael Nyman, and she's also a supporting act for Olafur Arnalds. It's probably your last chance to see her in a space that's as intimate as the Roter Salon.
