Richard Janssen

Richard Janssen, born 1961 in Manchester GB, attended the Dutch Film academy in Amsterdam before focussing on a career in popmusic, touring, writing and working with producers like Craig Leon (Blondie) and Mick Ronson (Bowie).

Since 2004 he has been working closely together with Susanne Kennedy, first in the Netherlands for Toneelgroep Amsterdam and the National Theater and since 2013 in Germany producing plays like Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt, Warum lauft Herr R Amok, Die Selbstmord-Schwestern, and Drei Schwestern for the Münchner Kammerspiele, MEDEA:MATRIX for the Ruhrtrienale and Women in Trouble, and Coming Society for the Volksbühne Berlin.

Together they developed an audio concept where no single live sound is coming from the stage anymore and every line of text is recorded separately before edited into an audio composition which is then playbacked and performed by the actors on stage.
