Join us at Volksbühne’s Roter Salon to celebrate the release of Nile Koetting’s Remain Calm LP [INFO 003], a record and booklet documenting Koetting’s scenographic performance work, Remain Calm.
Remain Calm is a performance installation by Berlin and Tokyo-based artist Nile Koetting which has developed over the numerous times it has been exhibited since its conception in 2019. In the work, Koetting draws on earthquake and tsunami drills experienced as a young student in Japan. Through blending sci-fi narratives with ready-made technologies, Remain Calm imagines a world where a soft, omniscient technocratic authority mediates between performer, audience, and natural disasters. Remain Calm was developed through close collaboration with writer and artist Miriam Stoney and composer Nozomu Matsumoto.
At Volksbühne, a new version titled Remain Calm – Live+ will premiere. Here, Koetting and his collaborators Matsumoto and Stoney join together as a band and reimagine Remain Calm as a live scenographic concert performance.
